Job Summary
|
Role: Manages day-to-day communication and interaction with assigned suppliers. Develops, analyzes and recommends sourcing options which support V&M efforts to reduce cost, improve quality and reduce leadtime. Works closely with the Supplier Development Engineer and the Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure suppliers meet V&M quality, delivery and cost expectations.

Roles and Responsibilities [Type a description of the essential roles, responsibilities and activities a candidate can expect to assume in this position]

Key Responsibilities: Ø Responsible for purchasing assigned materials and components which meet V&M requirements at competitive prices. Ø Works with the Sourcing Manager to negotiate and implement supply agreements with the China supply base. Ø To gather and analyze quotations from current and potential suppliers as requested by the China Sourcing Manager and present to V&M purchasing contacts at V&M factories Ø Works with Purchasing Administrator to track commodity price movements and understand the impact on assigned components Ø Works with the New Product Inspector to ensure suppliers meet target dates for sample development and approval. Ø Works with the Supplier Development Engineer to identify and develop potential new sources Ø Gathers competitive intelligence about valve manufacturers, joint venture alliances and sourcing practices. Ø Supports the Supplier Quality team to resolve defective material issues Resolves accounting issues associated with material price discrepancies

Qualifications: Ø Steel casting, forging or machining experience is preferable Ø Knowledge of purchasing processes/techniques (RFQ packages, negotiation, supplier selection and evaluation, supplier development and performance tracking Ø Mechanical engineering or metallurgical experience is desirable Ø 3-5 years of purchasing experience Ø Ability to read and understand component drawings
